英文介绍
The University of Galati is located in south east Romania and can trace its origins to 1948 with the establishment of the Land Improvement Institute. It was formally established as the University of Galati in 1974 with the merger of the Polytechnic Institute and Pedagogic Institute. In 1991, the government chose to rename the university to “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati.
The University of Galati has 14 faculties: Engineering; Naval Architecture; Food Science and Engineering; Automation, Computer Sciences; Electronics and Electrical Engineering; Physical education and Sport; Letters; Sciences and Environment; History, Philosophy and Theology; Engineering and Agronomy in Braila; Economics and Business Administration; Social, Political and Legal Sciences; Medicine and Pharmacy and a Subsidiary in Enna – Italy; Arts and Cross-border Faculty.
The university offers a variety of study programmes from undergraduate to master’s and doctoral studies. With courses ranging from three to six years, undergraduate students can study courses from theology to nursing, and from musical interpretation to medicine. Master’s students have the choice to study in Romanian, English or French in more specialised areas of study, including: health, accounting, and food products engineering among others.
The University of Galati has a variety of university partnerships all over Romania and the rest of the world. Students have the opportunity to study abroad at Duke and Cornell Universities in the USA, China’s Central Academy of Drama, and Germany’s Technical University of Hamburg. The university takes part in Erasmus+ and there is an International Relations Office to guide students who wish to take their studies outside Europe.
Students have the opportunity to develop their social, arts and sporting skills with the range of activities and facilities provided by the university. The Student Culture Centre has a theatre room, music room, photo studio and mirror room, and puts on events for the students, including a folk music festival, breakdance festival, competitive fishing, and fashion festival.
The university is located in Galati, a port town of the Danube River, known for being home to Romania’s largest iron and steel plant, the Galati Steel Works. Popular sites include: the Cathedral of Galati, Danube Shoreline, and Precista Fortified Church.
