Dr. Achebe

Many areas are trying to reduce fossil fuel consumption. To this end, some local governments want to find ways to encourage more people to use electric vehicles. What policy or initiative you would recommend that governments implement to encourage more use of electric vehicles? Please explain why you think so.

Student A : Kelly

Offer financial support to encourage places such as shopping districts to install a large number of free charging stations.

Student B : Paul

Set aside lanes on the high-traffic roadways that only electric cars could use.

Kelly

1.First,enough number of free charging stations can alleviate anxiety from charging range, making potential consumers willing to purchase electric cars.

2.Also,public charging stations provide accessibility for EV owners who may not have access to home charging.

Paul

1.To begin with, setting aside special lanes for electric cars can be regarded as a recognition of environmental benefits of electric vehicles.

2.In addition, since this action could enhance driving experience of EV owners during peak time, maybe more people would choose to buy electric cars.

1.For one thing, this action could bring down the cost, which makes electric cars more competitive with traditional vehicles.

2.Also,purchase incentives will lower financial burden on buyers.

2

Speaking

Task 1

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

The best way to teach children how to behave is to praise their good behavior rather than to criticize their bad behavior.

Use details and examples to support your opinion.

I disagree with this statement. I think criticism is more important in children’s upbringing than compliments because it’s easy for children to become over-confident and turn a blind eye to their bad behavior. When children are always praised, they are likely to have an illusion that they are perfect and everything they do is good behavior. However,in fact, children often make mistakes and cause trouble. If they are not criticized for the bad behavior, they will take what they’ve done for granted and go ahead with the bad deeds. For example,a guy in our school frequently bullies my friend. But this guy’s parents never blame him and instead, they are proud of him for his outstanding academic performance. He’s spoiled and doesn’t stop bullying.

Task 2

Virtual Campus Tour

Task 3

Paleoendemic Species
